Dr Mathew Dennis WilkesMathew is a Research Fellow in Clean Energy at the University of Sheffield. His research focuses on developing process and economic models to analyse technologies capable of decarbonising power and industry. His doctoral thesis (EPSRC CDT in Carbon Capture Storage and Cleaner Fossil Energy) focussed on the techno-economic comparison of different CO2 capture technologies for dispatchable and decentralised gas turbines. He has produced several peer-reviewed papers in the field of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), and his work on CO2 adsorption won the Siemens Model-based runners-up Innovation Prize (2021).
His current work focuses on Bio-Energy CCS (BECCS), producing technical reviews and reports, as well as developing process models for various unit operations across the BECCS chain, including the downstream production of hydrogen and synthetic aviation fuels. Key topics: CCS, CCUS, BECCS, Energy Systems, Process Modelling. |
